When Lindsey & Shelley first met with us, we crossed our fingers and toes that they would book us as their Phoenix Wedding Photographers…..and it must have helped, because they did. Anyone who follows us knows we have a special love for same-sex weddings and love in general without any conditions. These two were exactly the right fit into our R2 family and we can’t wait until their wedding at the Superstition Mountains. We have only spent a short amount of time with these two but we are absolutely in love with them. We met up over some beers to create a themed Engagement Session concept for these two. Out of that conversation we found out that Shelley’s grandparents have a cabin in Pinetop, AZ and it held a special place in her heart. She grew up there enjoying vacations with all her family, with a campfire, bean bag toss, and roasting marshmallows. As soon as she told us about her love for this place we knew we had to incorporate it! So we headed up for an overnight camping trip that made for some romantic, candid, fun & most importantly, memory making images! This was our first overnight engagement session and it was amazing! Welcome to our family you two!
Shelley & her family love a good beer so with that we had to incorporate some drinking into their E-Sesh….wine, beer and some more beer.
The cabin was lovely, but even more so the environment around the cabin had amazing light….prepare yourselves for some uber romantic sunlight shots….
Seriously, seems like we are spying right? We told them to do their thing and this is what we captured.
These girls are COMPETITIVE! Like for reals! I think Shelley was planning to win this game of bean bag toss, but Lindsey KILLED it! I love her reaction when her aim was right on.

We wanted to get a full shot of the porch Shelley remembers as a kid and incorporate her new love, Lindsey into the equation. We have a feeling this image might just make it on her Grandmas wall in the cabin with the rest of the family pictures.

And to top it off, we set up our lights and captured some s’more making! This was absolutely fabulous and so them! We then sat on the porch, had some beers with them, laughed over a game of Apples to Apples and crashed for the night! We feel so privileged to have couples that trust our vision and that know how important the relationship between photographer & client can be. We are so glad we officially get to call Lindsey and Shelley our friends!
