Wendy and Jim, hands down, take the cake for the most “out of the box” wedding we have ever photographed. Jim is an extremely well known comic book artist who currently draws the Batwoman comics for DC Comics. He signs his name J.H.Williams III (look him up, people. His work is pretty darn incredible!) He and Wendy have actually been married for 20 years but, when Wendy contacted me she told me that they never had a “real” wedding and so, this time, they were going to knock it out of the park! That’s exactly what they did!
The ceremony and reception were held at The Artisan Boutique Hotel in Vegas. With the exception of the floor, everywhere you looked there was art! The ceiling was covered with framed prints. Renee and I decided to shack up at this hotel as to make the day a little easier. We discovered that each room in the hotel was labeled with a famous artist’s name. The decor within the room was all based on that particular artist. The inside of this hotel was an experience in and of itself! What better backdrop for an extremely artistic couple looking to throw down a celebration that is completely out of the normal and make it fabulous?! We truly hope you enjoy this unique day as much as we did! Be sure to check out more of their incredible photos at: www.wendyandjim.ther2studio.com
Wendy had the most important girls in her life get her all dolled up. She looked amazing!
Jim had a great group of guys getting him ready. Not to mention, a fabulous, custom designed suit to boot!
His shoes were so unique they just needed to be highlighted!
We were running a tad short on time but Renee and I thought it was so sweet that Jim REALLY wanted to do a first look regardless. We made it happen and it was an amazing moment.
I loved the splash of color that Wendy had in her hair feathers.
The cake! Oh, the cake. Wendy is in love with Tony Duquette’s mid 1900’s designs and had her cake custom made by Aracelli Zea Cake Studio. The entire thing was edible and looked like it came straight out of Cake Wars! So awesome!
This wedding also included a belly dancer, which was a great addition. She really did an awesome job at engaging all of the guests… she even chased me down at one point!
The next day I hit up Alternate Reality Comics where people were lined up out the door to have Jim and several of his fellow artists (who were also guests at his wedding) sign their prints, comics, and various other books. Jim was so thoughtful and hooked me up with some signed prints and books of Batwoman that he drew for! It was an incredible weekend. One that we will never forget! Thank you Wendy and Jim for such an amazing experience! <3 R&R
